Mar. 9th, 2018 01:32 pm[The Great Sage, Equal to Heaven, Son Goku. For his crimes of causing chaos and bloodshed in Heaven, he has been sentenced to five hundred years imprisonment and solitude. A harsh sentence from the gods with just one mercy- the memory of his crimes and of the loved ones he lost have been sealed away, where they can't hurt him anymore. They can't comfort him anymore either.
In the cold, windy cell on top of the mountain, all Goku has is silence, a distant view and his name (because the real Goddess of Mercy plays favourites). Somewhere in him there's the sense that things weren't always this way, that something has been lost to him, but with every passing year he starts to doubt himself more. Every winter is cold, every summer is out of reach, so who can say the world has ever been any different? Certainly not Goku. And for all he knows, there isn't anyone else who can say anything at all.
Well, a bird came once. So there was at least one other living thing out there. Not anymore though.
Four hundred and eighty-two years go by. Goku doesn't count them. It never occurs to him to and it wouldn't help if he did. He has no idea how close he is to the end of his sentence. He has no idea that hope is on the horizon and that soon the sun will rise. He just has to wait a little longer.
In Heaven, Kanzeon Bosatsu trips. It's rather embarrassing, but luckily only Jiroushin is there to see it. He insists on fussing over her skinned knee like she's a child.
Goku misses all that, of course, but he does still look up in shock when it happens. He heard a crack. Like the metal bars in front of him are on the verge of shattering. Creeping forward tentatively, he gives one a sharp poke. A chip of iron falls off like sandstone.
Scheduling can be a tricky business.]

Dumb Teens In Space

[Lost in space, Goku manages to make friends anyway. Some of those friends are girls. One of them is a girl. And a friend. A girl who is a friend. Someone save this monkey.]

[It's quiet.
Sometimes a strong wind will pick up and Goku can entertain himself listening to it rush past the rocks, but today the air is still. He hasn't heard any birds, even in the distance, in a long time- how long he isn't sure, but he thinks the snow has come and gone a few times since the last bird call.
At least it's not snowing, Goku tells himself. Actually, outside of the shade of his cave, it looks quite warm. Not for the first time, he wonders how the warmth would feel on his skin. But he doesn't bother trying to reach for it.
It's so quiet.

Father-son weekend
Jun. 14th, 2016 01:18 pm[Not many people are comfortable with Vegeta acting as "sole responsible adult" around Trunks for any significant length of time, even now. Sure, he's changed and settled down. He loves his son, no one would ever doubt that. But it's still probably for the best that there usually be another adult in the vicinity to handle the more mundane parenting tasks, for Vegeta's sake as much as Trunks'.
Unfortunately, Bulma doesn't seem to agree. She and her father are gone for the weekend, attending some scientific conference. Her mother walked out the door mentioning a spa and hasn't been seen since. Trunks and Vegeta are home alone. Vegeta is absolutely fine with this. It means he has to stay at Capsule Corp, but that's fine. It's been a while since he spent a lot of time in the gravity chamber anyway. So that's where he is now, training away at 500 Gs, roughly content with the world. As far as he knows, Trunks is exactly where his father left him, playing video games inside.
But it's been a few hours now and he's starting to consider fetching the boy and making him train as well. Sitting around inside all day can't be good for him.]

[It's kind of convenient how mysterious portals connecting different timelines started opening up just as Trunks' timeline came under attack from some bizarre, stupidly powerful, alien dragons. Convenient that Vegeta happened to jump through one at the right moment to help his alternate timeline son out, for sure.
Inset generic DBZ movie battle sequence here- oh wait, Goku and Gohan didn't make it. Well, Vegeta and Trunks still manage to finish the fight somehow, without Son "Kill Steal" Goku there to save the day.]
FINAL FLASH!
[Vegeta fires his most powerful attack at the last, most powerful enemy, hopeful that will finally bring the battle to a close. There's the kind of horrendous explosion you'd expect, at least. As the dust starts to clear, Vegeta floats down from the sky, short on breath and reaching out with all his senses to detect any remaining enemies- and to keep track of his son.]

Aug. 17th, 2015 11:17 amBulma had long since lost track of just how many times she had been called away from her work and research just to come in and fix the new gravity chamber she had just invented. If the prince of all saiyans would start treating her equipment with a little respect, she might not be so irked. He didn't like being forced to put his training on pause because of a malfunction (in the form of a hole blown into the chamber wall) any more than she enjoyed being yanked from her station to come and fix it. Unlike everyone else, she didn't bow or kiss ass when she was around Vegeta. She definitely wasn't afraid to get in his face and yell just as loud, if not louder, than him.
"You really did a number on it this time. It's not a simple fix. I'm going to need a couple of days to repair the damage and sort out the gravity settings." She remarked with a sharp, annoyed tone to her voice. Leaning over the edge of the panel, the blue haired saiyan looked utterly disgusted at the exposed wires and broken bits of paneling. Bulma had been born with a power level high enough to put her in the elite saiyan status, but instead of becoming a warrior, she chose to devote her time to more scientific matters. It was a real scandal back in the day, but since then she had produced some very useful technology such as the gravity chamber Vegeta seemed so fond of using. Since she created it, she was the only one who could fix it.
"This chamber wasn't designed for your extreme rise in power level over the last couple of months, but we'll have to keep patching it up until I have the time and resources to build another one."

Jun. 20th, 2015 03:36 pm[When they'd first agreed that it was time to make a second child, Vegeta had expected the early part of the process to be the most enjoyable. And for the first week or two, it had been very enjoyable. But then Bulma had failed to instantly become pregnant and... Well, obviously that just meant they had to try harder. Vegeta now knows more about ovulation than he ever expected to need to know. But the Prince of all Saiyans does not give up on any goal he puts his mind towards and Bulma was just as stubborn and nearly as obsessive as he was so math had been done and charts had been made and while the sex was still fun there was a businesslike quality to it.
And now it has been nearly three months and still Bulma wasn't pregnant. Not keen to voice any of his concerns out loud (and not sure what they all were in the first place), Vegeta has just tried to put it out of his mind for the last few days. As far as he can tell, so has Bulma.
In any case, all he wants to do now is sleep. It's been a long day. It's past midnight now and he's lying still in their bed, eyes shut and waiting for sleep to claim him. Which probably won't happen until his wife has stopped making a ruckus.]

Jun. 6th, 2015 09:48 pm[It had been, to put it lightly, a rough day. A rough eight months, quite frankly, with both of her sons in the otherworld and her grandson kidnapped by their killer. She'd missed the fight with Raditz, arrived just too late to play peace keeper between the two brothers, and then hadn't even been able to avenge them by killing Piccolo (maybe she should have just killed him. They don't have the Dragonballs now anyway). Then Vegeta and Nappa had arrived, behaving even worse than Raditz, and she hadn't had any choice but to side with the Earthlings. Kakarrot and Gohan would have never agreed to anything else. Their happiness was more important than her loyalty to her prince.
Months later both of her sons have been revived, her grandson is safe in his mother's arms and the saiyans have finally stopped finishing Frieza's work by picking each other off. Gi-ne considers it and thinks she can be okay with the fact that the only one they actually lost was Nappa (and a bunch of the earthlings but she won't cry about Piccolo at least). She had, at least, been able to save her prince. She'd been beaten badly by the elite, but she still had enough strength to stop Krillin from landing the finishing blow. Kakarrot had been surprisingly supportive. And so, once her family had been taken away, she'd picked the heavily injured prince up (probably unconscious) and taken him to a small city she was reasonably confident the others wouldn't look for them where she knew there was a hospital prepared to treat him.
That was earlier. Having spent some time speaking to the doctors (and getting her own injuries treated) Gi-ne enters Vegeta's hospital room, closing the door behind her. She's just assuming he's awake again by now.]
They don't have healing tanks on this planet, but I've been to this place before. They'll know how to take care of you.
[And, hopefully, her temporary betrayal will be forgiven once Vegeta has healed. Until then, she's confident in her ability to control him.]

[Being suddenly alive again after a handful of decades in Hell has it's ups and downs. Upsides! Being alive! Having her physical body! Seeing her youngest son and grandsons. Downsides! Everything is confusing and everything she ever knew or loved is gone. At least she'd been heartily welcomed into the Son family, for the most part, once she'd made her distaste for killing innocent aliens (however strange and confusing they were) clear.
And so it was time to get to know her youngest son! Who was... practically a stranger. Who really liked hanging out in the wilderness for some reason. Gi-ne does not understand camping or why it counts as a bonding experience, but everyone had agreed with Kakarot when he suggested it so she could hardly argue. What Kakarot wanted, Kakarot would get.
At least she was well accustomed to making campfires, from her purging days. Not sure what the point of camping was, Gi-ne focused on building a pile of sticks, figuring she could at least do a good, old-fashioned camp meal for her son while they were out on their own.]

Sep. 22nd, 2012 12:30 am[ The past week or so has been incredibly rough on everyone involved, Vegeta and Trunks included. In particular, even, some might say. They've taken some time to recover and rest, but it's back to the grindstone to get some father-son bonding the only way Vegeta knows how! Training.
They've both fought bravely and become stronger, learning new techniques, nearly dying and recovering, dying and recovering and just plain getting the stuffing beaten out of them. Vegeta is proud of how his son has progressed, but that only means they can't afford to slack off now. Yes, Trunks, your reward for growing as a warrior and helping save the world is...
Three hundred times Earth's gravity, the second they enter the chamber. Enjoy.]
