Royal Pains
Bulma had long since lost track of just how many times she had been called away from her work and research just to come in and fix the new gravity chamber she had just invented. If the prince of all saiyans would start treating her equipment with a little respect, she might not be so irked. He didn't like being forced to put his training on pause because of a malfunction (in the form of a hole blown into the chamber wall) any more than she enjoyed being yanked from her station to come and fix it. Unlike everyone else, she didn't bow or kiss ass when she was around Vegeta. She definitely wasn't afraid to get in his face and yell just as loud, if not louder, than him.
"You really did a number on it this time. It's not a simple fix. I'm going to need a couple of days to repair the damage and sort out the gravity settings." She remarked with a sharp, annoyed tone to her voice. Leaning over the edge of the panel, the blue haired saiyan looked utterly disgusted at the exposed wires and broken bits of paneling. Bulma had been born with a power level high enough to put her in the elite saiyan status, but instead of becoming a warrior, she chose to devote her time to more scientific matters. It was a real scandal back in the day, but since then she had produced some very useful technology such as the gravity chamber Vegeta seemed so fond of using. Since she created it, she was the only one who could fix it.
"This chamber wasn't designed for your extreme rise in power level over the last couple of months, but we'll have to keep patching it up until I have the time and resources to build another one."

[Relaxes at that. Yes, Bulma is far too good for the likes of low level scum like Raditz- or rather, she had far more important work to do. This was obviously her way of following his orders while keeping her pride by pretending she wasn't. For sure.
Vegeta takes a few steps back to lean against the wall.] Then you can focus on what's actually important and get to work.

Right now, she decided to get to work on the busted gravity chamber. Leaving momentarily to retrieve some tools, she set to work. Fixing the panel came first and since she was tucked away inside the chamber, she didn't hear King Vegeta enter. In fact, she didn't notice him until she walked out and to the side of the chamber to start patching up the hole he'd blown into the wall.
She was so caught up in her work she didn't notice King Vegeta watching his son stare at her. So it wasn't just the new training technology that had consumed Vegeta's attention.
She glanced up when the two of them left the room to speak, but swiftly resumed her work. This wasn't going to get fixed in one day, plenty of stuff needed to be recalibrated.
Wiping the sweat off her brow, her saiyan armor dotted in dust, dirt, and other assorted black fluids, she finally gave up for the day. Just in time to hear the door open]
Alright. I've done what I can today. I might get this fixed tomorrow or by the next day. Depends on how much damage you dealt the gravity systems.
no subject
Finish it now!
[Gritting his teeth and glaring at the wall. How dare he? Making assumptions, daring to tell him what to do- "Your brother was an embarrassment enough. Your son must be a warrior, with fighting spirit. Don't waste your time on her, her children won't be fit to be saiyan royalty." How dare he?
Vegeta growls, glaring at the wall.]
Arrogant, sanctimonious bastard!
no subject
[What the hell was with Vegeta's storm of emotions today? He wasn't usually this hot or cold]
Don't take out your daddy issues on me. I'll be working all night into the morning if you want this finished.
[She wanted to go back to her other projects, but it was looking like Prince asshole wasn't going to let her]
What did he say to get you this worked up?
no subject
[Now Vegeta's the one with his tail whipping back and forth behind him as he fights the urge to hit the wall or something. Yeah, you're not getting out of this, Bulma, someone has to bare witness to his rage and you're the closest thing he has to a friend.]
How dare he tell me what to do? And bringing Tarble into it, of all people! Like he knows a damn thing about anything!
no subject
None of my businesses, but you still want to vent and fume in my direction. I'd say it's my business when you make it my business. Was he pestering you about getting an heir or something?
[It was a logical assumption given their previous topic of conversation had gotten him a bit worked up]
Whatever he said, must've been a direct shot to your pride to get you this worked up.
no subject
I don't like being told what to do.
[Or what not to do.]
This is my decision! It doesn't affect him in any way! He has nothing to do with it- [Well, as King, he might have a little to do with it] and if I do choose a mate it will be based on whatever criteria I decide!
no subject
Alright, you're all worked up.
[She moved to a fighting stance after snapping her gloves into place. It was probably laughable to him]
I'm going to give you the distinct honor of sparring with me, since the gravity chamber is down. We'll vent some of that frustration.
no subject
... You're joking. [Bulma's no weakling, but Vegeta is much stronger, even when he isn't feeling particularly arrogant.] I'd crush you.
no subject
[If nothing else, saiyans were pretty proficient at trashtalking before a fight]
C'mon. We'll make it interesting. If I land a punch, I get to leave without finishing the gravity chamber. How's that sound?
[When a sexy blue haired saiyan asks to spar with you, you say yes Vegeta]
no subject
[She does look pretty hot like that. Vegeta "reluctantly" shifts his balance so that he's ready for an attack.]
You're setting yourself up for a long night, woman.
[It's a deal.]
no subject
But strength didn't always win a fight. Even though most would disagree with that notion. You could be strong, but have a brain full of rocks like Nappa and easily get yourself killed through sheer stupidity.
Bulma had a strategy in mind. She just had to land one punch, so she took her time. Let him thing that as the hours passed, she was starting to get worn out. That would set his ego off like nothing else. And it was true enough, he started getting sloppy towards the end, taking his time to goad and gloat.
That's what made landing a punch to his face all the more satisfying. Because he was smirking when she suddenly sent her power level soaring and used the excess speed to land a solid hit.
That didn't mean Vegeta wouldn't hit her back out of sheer instinct]
You were saying?
1/2
Without thinking about it, he immediately lashes out and stikes Bulma right on the jaw.]

Not bad. I know you were humoring me there for awhile, but you should watch out. Being too cocky in battle can lead to some embarrassing injuries.
no subject
"For awhile?" Please, you'd never lay a hand on me if I didn't let you.
[
And, oh, he'd let herI mean. Vegeta saunters on over to her and grabs her chin to inspect her jaw himself.] Hmpf. Careful, woman, someone might mistake you for a warrior.no subject
I guess you're just lucky I prefer tinkering with technology. Imagine what I could do to you if I put my full focus and concentration on training to be a super saiyan.
[She could give him a run for his money, that's for sure.
And she could do so many things to him right here and now]no subject
Hm. What a terrifying thought. [Moves a little closer, gaze shifting from her mouth to make eye contact.] But I think your energy can be put to better use.
[Helping him become a Super Saiyan.]
no subject
Put to use being your personal mechanic, you mean.
[She took a step back because she had to. Her tail was planning to betray her by curling around his thigh and that...well there's no explaining that away]
Guess I'll see you in the morning, Vegeta. Don't worry, I'll get the gravity chamber up and running by nightfall. Then I can start work on the new one.
no subject
... Good. I want to return to my training as soon as possible.
[Said with his arms crossed, being sure to look away from her.]
no subject
Bulma turned to leave, silently relishing the sensation of her tail 'accidentally' brushing against his thigh. Hey, a girl could dream a certain saiyan prince was actually interested in her for something other than fixing the gravity chamber.
She returned the next morning with more tools and wires on hand, hooking up the chamber to various things to recalibrate certain systems. Once again, she focused on her work, although at least this time Vegeta didn't join her until mid afternoon. Probably getting anxious to have it up and running]
No, it's not ready yet and you hovering isn't going to get it fixed any faster.
no subject
Believe it or not, being prince does come with some responsibilities and he spends the morning dealing with those. It's a distraction from Bulma and something to pass the time, but once they're done with he wants to resume training. Doing so outdoors in Planet Vegeta's usual gravity just isn't a challenge anymore. So here he is, intent on badgering Bulma into speeding things up.]
You should have finished this yesterday! This is ridiculous, you're delaying things just to infuriate me.
no subject
[Her tail gave an annoyed little flick in his direction]
You're the one that made the bet last night. Don't be a sore loser
[She was bent over the edge of the panel, checking various wires hooked up to the main power source, checking various readings]
It'll take another couple of hours to get everything working like new again. If you want to get things rolling faster, you could grab me a bite to eat. I've been in here all day.
no subject
[It is a wonder how Bulma is not throwing herself at this charming prince. Vegeta's eyes follow Bulma's tail briefly before he forces them away. He may have spent the night thinking things over.]
But before you do that I need to inform you of something once you're done with the gravity machine.
no subject
[Bulma said with a typical roll of her eyes before returning back to her work. She should have known better than to ask something like that in the first place]
If you want to talk, then talk. Or come back in a couple of hours because so help me if you keep hovering over me I'm going to lose it.
[Her cool, her temper, her resolve to keep from pummeling him repeatedly in the face. All of the above]
