[When they'd first agreed that it was time to make a second child, Vegeta had expected the early part of the process to be the most enjoyable. And for the first week or two, it had been very enjoyable. But then Bulma had failed to instantly become pregnant and... Well, obviously that just meant they had to try harder. Vegeta now knows more about ovulation than he ever expected to need to know. But the Prince of all Saiyans does not give up on any goal he puts his mind towards and Bulma was just as stubborn and nearly as obsessive as he was so math had been done and charts had been made and while the sex was still fun there was a businesslike quality to it.

And now it has been nearly three months and still Bulma wasn't pregnant. Not keen to voice any of his concerns out loud (and not sure what they all were in the first place), Vegeta has just tried to put it out of his mind for the last few days. As far as he can tell, so has Bulma.

In any case, all he wants to do now is sleep. It's been a long day. It's past midnight now and he's lying still in their bed, eyes shut and waiting for sleep to claim him. Which probably won't happen until his wife has stopped making a ruckus.]

Bulma, just go to sleep.

[Though the image that flashes in his head almost makes him smirk. A little girl like Bulma with saiyan strength... Okay, that's kind of adorable.]

You say that as if half your reason for doing this wasn't to give you and that woman an excuse to run out and shop for the brat. [Leans back and closes his eyes, focusing again on the tiny ki. Tiny child. Oh God, it's so tiny.] Like any child of yours would wear hand me downs. Absurd.

[His words earned him a small smack to his shoulder]

That's not the point. Buying new baby things is nice, but we can reuse some of Trunk's stuff too.

[She shifted onto her side, moving so that her back was to him. If he wanted to keep his hand on her stomach, he'd have to roll onto his side as well]

You're coming with me in the morning, right? It won't take long to get the blood test done.

[Grunts when she hits him and rolls his eyes behind closed lids. He's pretty sure Bulma will spend a small fortune on new "baby things" and there won't be any room left for the old stuff. He's not even sure why a baby needs half the stuff he remembers Trunks having.]

[Little annoyed when she moves. It's much harder to sense the baby without skin contact at this stage.]

What the hell do you need me for there? [He tries to avoid human contact (outside of Bulma) when he can. And he genuinely doesn't get what purpose he'd have for going with her. Be patient, Bulma.]

[To be fair to Vegeta, Bulma and her mother were both confirmed shopaholics]

I just thought you'd want to be there when the pregnancy is confirmed.

[There's a slight huff to her voice. Sometimes she had to lay her displeasure at his decisions on pretty thick before he realized]

But if you're too busy, I'll take mom with me instead.

[Oh, so this is one of those sentimental moments she was so excited about him being there to experience this time. Fuck.]

I didn't say I wouldn't go, I just asked you a question, woman. [Don't get huffy he's still learning. He's improved a lot but he's still got a lot to learn.] If you want me there, I'll go with you.

[Vegeta finally pulled the covers back over the two of them and moved a little closer to Bulma. Not going in to cuddle again just yet but... A little closer...]

[Who says you can't teach prideful saiyans new tricks?]

Good, because I want you there.

[She met him halfway with the cuddling part by moving closer, closing the distance between the two of them]

I guess we should try to get some sleep.

[She reached for his hand and linked their fingers together over her stomach. There, better?]

'Bout damn time. [Oh, shush, Vegeta, you're excited about all this too.]

[And yes, better. Vegeta lets Bulma pull him into position and lies there still for a moment. Then he unlinks their hands and moves Bulma's forefinger over to a specific point on her stomach.]

There. [That's more or less exactly where the baby is.]

[Bulma's eyes were still closer, but the smile on her lips widened as she felt him move her hand to the precise point where the baby's ki could be felt. She wished she could sense the baby...]

Right there, huh? It's probably the size of a pea right now.

Smaller.

[Their child must be going to be incredibly powerful if Vegeta can sense them already. But that's to be expected.]

But yes, right there. Give or take a millimeter.
