APPEARANCE AND BODY PERCEPTION ① Describe the character's height and build. Is she heavyset, thin, short, rangy? She's pretty thin and short, but she obviously has some muscle on her. Wiry is the best word for her. ② How old is she? 35 years old, somehow counting years the same on Vegeta as on Earth. ③ Describe her posture. Does she carry herself well, or does she slouch? She has good posture, most of the time! She stands up straight and is very light on her feet. Sometimes she slouches and leans against things when she's tired though. ④ How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? Very healthy and in good shape! She exercises regularly and eats very well. Her pregnancies were rough on her, but she recovered from them very quickly due to saiyan medical technology. ⑤ How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? She's light on her feet and very sure of herself in her movements. She's not very good at staying still and either walks around a lot or fidgets. Likes to have something to do with her hands. In battle she switches between playfully jumping about and trying clever tricks and being more cautious, attacking from a distance and keeping her guard up. ⑥ How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the mirror? Gi-ne is very cute! She has a pretty face and an okay body. She's not a bombshell but anyone would think she was pretty and she does too. Her looks aren't a huge concern to her but she does think she's beautiful and is confident other people recognise it. Not above using her cute looks to win people over. ⑦ Describe her complexion: dark, light, clear, scarred? Light skin, not many noticeable scars. ⑧ Describe her hair: color, texture, style. Her hair is black. Very thick and spiky, it forms clumps and points naturally. It's also very strong and doesn't fall out or break easily. She keeps it clean and it's soft to the touch. ⑨ What color are her eyes? Black/dark brown ⑩ Does the character have any other noteworthy features? She has a brown tail like a monkey's. Slightly lighter shade of brown than the rest of her hair. It's very flexible and nearly as strong as her other limbs. Apart from her tail, there's pretty much no hair on her body from the neck down. ⑪ What are her chief tension centers? Lower back, around where her tail starts. ⑫ What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit? Utilitarian, but cute by saiyan standards. She has a few sets of armour and that's it. On Vegeta she always either wears those, dresses down to just her undersuit or goes naked. In AUs where she's on Earth for a while she'll adapt to local fashion, though she ends up having a sort of "stylish tomboy" aesthetic. Silk chinese blouses with pants are what I usually picture her wearing, but she's not fussy about her clothes so long as she can move easily. ⑬ Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them? Saiyan fashion tends to lean towards skin tight clothing and Gi-ne is totally comfortable with it. I think she'd be a little less comfortable in clothing designed to be "sexy", but stuff that allows movement is fine. ⑭ Does she dress the same on the job as she does in her free time? If not, what are the differences? When she's relaxing she might take off her armour and relax in the undersuit part, but otherwise it's the same. When she was a full-time fighter she wore slightly different armour that was easier to fight in and more dangerous looking. ⑮ You knew it was coming: boxers, briefs, or commando? There's nothing there... SPEECH ① What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? Though I usually imagine DBZ characters with their Funimation voices, for Gi-ne I imagine something closer to how Masako Nozawa plays Gohan and Goku in the Japanese version but maybe a slightly higher pitch. ② How does she normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does she talk easily, or does she hesitate? It depends on who she's talking to! She normally speaks at a medium pace and pretty evenly. In casual conversation she's confident and doesn't pause, but when it comes to serious stuff she gets nervous and hesitates more often. ③ Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? THIS IS SOMETHING I HAVE A HARD TIME CONVEYING THROUGH TEXT and it ties in with my idea that she sounds like Nozawa. She makes a lot of weird sounds as she's talking, like "aah?" "eeeh?" "eeto" and stuff like Goku does. All those weird Japanese filler words. Other than that, she doesn't have much of an accent. She doesn't speak very formally, but she's not usually impolite unless she tries to be either. ④ What language(s) does she speak and with how much fluency? LANGUAGES IN DRAGONBALL... She speaks the standard intergalactic language (English?) and also probably the native saiyan language which I headcanon is seen as kind of old-fashioned these days. She's also picked up the odd word in other alien languages, usually food and swear words, while travelling the galaxy and... killing the people who spoke them. ⑤ Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations? If she's speaking to someone who either cares about that sort of thing or who she thinks deserves it, she'll speak much more politely. For example, Prince Vegeta, King Vegeta... Someone like the Kais would also get that treatment. ⑥ Is she a good impromptu speaker, or does she have to think about her words? She has to think about it for a while and get her thoughts in order! She's not good at arguing with people for very long and it takes her a little while to form a solid opinion. ⑦ Is she eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? Sort of in the middle, leaning towards inarticulate. EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL ① How intelligent is this character? Is she book-smart or street-smart? More emotionally intelligent than either of those! Gi-ne's smarter than she seems, but she's no genius and can be a bit of a ditz. She's definitely not book smart, she's never studied anything like that and big numbers make her head hurt. But she's very good at reading people and being in tune with her own emotions, as well as getting along with people and dealing with them in general. I'd say she's mildly clever, mostly because she's smart enough to act dumb. ② Does she think on his feet, or does she need time to deliberate? She's better at thinking on her feet when it comes to action, deliberating over stuff and planning things just makes her anxious. She'd rather leave that to other people. She's not bad when it comes to spontaneous acts, where she usually just goes with whatever feels right or whatever bright idea popped into her head first. It usually has a 50-50 chance of working out. ③ Describe the character's thought process. Is she more logical or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? Intuitive and idealistic! She wishes she was more practical and tries to force herself to act that way, but she's really the emotional type. ④ What kind of education has the character had? Next to none! She's had practical "education" in fighting and cooking, mostly by result of what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. She learned to fight by watching people and by avoiding being killed by them in turn. She learned how to cook by eating everything she could and seeing what worked out best. Everything else she just kind of picked up as she went along, and it shows. ⑤ What are her areas of expertise? What, if anything, is she interested in learning more about? All saiyans are brilliant fighters, says Gi-ne! And she is pretty good by most standards, though her methods are mostly instinctive and by saiyan standards she's nothing special. Her real skill set is cooking, but what she does is actually rather simplistic if on a grand scale. She'd like to learn more and become better at doing fancy stuff or working with things other than huge chunks of meat, but there's no real need for that in her daily life. ⑥ Is she an introvert or an extrovert? She acts like an extrovert, but honestly she's a little introverted? She likes time to herself and can get a bit self-conscious. But she loves people, likes to spend time with people important to her on a regular basis and isn't really shy. ⑦ Describe the character's temperament. Is she even-tempered, or does she have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholic? Laid-back or driven? Very easy going and laid-back for the most part! When something happens that upsets her she'll react angrily, but she has difficulty keeping it going for long and is easy to calm down. She's in the habit of being cheerful and usually it's genuine. How open she is about her sadder moods depends on who she's with. With someone like Bardock she'll be open about it and mope and sniffle, but with her kids she tries to keep a happy face so she can be strong for them. ⑧ How does she respond to new people or situations? Is she suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? Relaxed and enthusiastic! She likes to meet people, she likes to try new things, she likes fun! Saiyans are naturally xenophobic but Gi-ne doesn't really have any problems with them so she's just a little condenscending. ⑨ Is she more likely to act or to react? React. She's not a very proactive person and tends to just follow other people's leads. She's capable of acting on her own when necessary though. ⑩ Which is her default: fight or flight? She'd like to say fight, but in general it's flight. ⑪ Describe the character's sense of humor. Does she appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? She has a good sense of humour and particularly likes teasing people! Stuff like making fun of Bardock's hair or him showing concern for his kids. She likes puns but they mostly fly over her head and she isn't very good at making them. Pranks are good too! ... Basically, making fun at other people's expense. Wow, Gi-ne. ⑫ Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If so, how does she deal with them? Not usually. Post-Vegeta's destruction in AUs where she survives she does have minor depression and suicidal tendencies based off of survivor's guilt and displacement though. ⑬ What moments in this character's life have defined her as a person? The realisation that she could never happily purge a planet, falling in love with Bardock and the birth of Raditz. ⑭ What does she fear? That she's right about killing being wrong and what that means for Bardock and Raditz. Also her weakness impacting her relationship with Raditz. She's also scared of dying. ⑮ What are her hopes or aspirations? Gi-ne would be content with a simple life with her family. She hopes her sons will grow up to be healthy, powerful warriors. Otherwise she's pretty happy with her lot in life. ⑯ What is something she doesn't want anyone to find out about her? There isn't much. There's stuff she hides depending on the circumstances, but on her own she's happy to be an open book besides occasionally getting embarrassed. RELATIONSHIPS ① Describe this character's relationship with her parents. Gi-ne isn't close to her parents at all! She knows who they are and was friendly enough with her mother while she was alive, but she never had much of a relationship with them. Once she was old enough to walk, they pretty much left her to her own devices. ② Does the character have any siblings? What is their relationship like? None mentioned in canon, but I like the idea of her having older brothers. She has one half-brother with the same mother as her, and he has a half-brother with the same father as him. Technically she's not related to the second one, but she thinks of him as a brother. She's not super close to them but they get along okay and she likes them. They both died before Planet Vegeta was destroyed. It's also looking like Turles is Bardock's younger brother, so he's Gi-ne's sort of brother-in-law? She likes him and they act friendly to each other. ③ Are there other blood relatives to whom she is close? Are there ones she can't stand? Her sons! Gi-ne adores Kakarrot and Raditz. She's closer to Raditz, because they've actually spent time together and she taught him how to fight. She'd do just about anything for their sakes. ④ Are there other, unrelated people whom she considers part of her family? What are her relationships with them? See the sibling question. Also Bardock, I guess? Saiyans don't marry, but Gi-ne thinks of him as family and loves him madly. ⑤ Who is the character's best friend? How did they meet? I kind of want to go the super dumb route and say Raditz is her best friend these days hahaha... But it's probably Bardock. She was assigned to his team when she first started purging planets. He saved her a few times and scolded her for not killing people. ⑥ Does she have other close friends? A few fellow warriors and a few people from the meat dispensary... Gi-ne's the type to be friends with everyone, but she's not really close with anyone but her family. ⑦ Does she make friends easily, or does she have trouble getting along with people? She gets along with everyone really easily! Gi-ne is good at putting people at ease and being liked. A lot of other saiyans look down on her for being weak, but even they can't dislike her. Like I said above, Gi-ne's the type to make friends easily, but on Planet Vegeta she doesn't have many close friends because of the way saiyans act. To other warriors she's a weakling, to her current coworkers she's still an outsider, and then there's the usual saiyan bravado. ⑧ Which does she consider more important: family or friends? Family. ⑨ Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has she been married more than once? Not-actually-married. Saiyans don't marry and normally don't form committed romantic relationships! Gi-ne's relationship with Bardock is a rarity and she'd have trouble defining it if you asked her. But basically they're married. ⑩ Is she currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse? She flirts because it's fun, but she's never taken it any further. Cheating isn't really a thing for a species with barely any concept of monogamy, so it's less about loyalty and more about just being Bardock crazy. ⑪ Who was her first crush? Who is her latest? When she was younger, she had a crush on King Vegeta! But they never spoke and it's unlikely he knows who she is, it was just a sort of celebrity crush. Latest is Bardock kyaa~ ⑫ What does she look for in a romantic partner? She looks for someone strong and handsome! She really admires Bardock's strength and strategy. So she likes smart, strong, handsome guys. She doesn't look for this deliberately as much, but she really wants someone who accepts her as she is and she has an easy time talking to. ⑬ Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If so, how does she relate to them? If not, does she want any? She has two sons! As I said above, Gi-ne adores Raditz and Kakarrot with all her heart. She's closer to Raditz because he's older; they've spent more time together and she knows him better. He's also her first born so there's a special connection there. She loves Kakarrot too and dotes on him as best she can while he's in the incubation chamber. She visits him at least once every few days and talks to him. A far as grandchildren goes, she has two! But Gi-ne died years before Gohan and Goten were born. At her death, Raditz and Kakarrot are way too young for her to even be thinking about grandchildren and the lower-class saiyans don't put much thought into extended families normally. But if she did meet them she'd be happy and like them a lot. ⑭ Does she have any rivals or enemies? FRIEZA- but no, not really. Not on a personal level. ⑮ What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does she fall on the Kinsey Scale? She's straight. Probably about a 1 on the Kinsey Scale, sadly enough. ⑯How does she feel about sex? How important is it to her? She's not particularly sex driven. She enjoys it when it happens but she doesn't think about it much on a day to day basis. ⑰ What are her turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits? Playing rough and fighting with a handsome guy can get her going! She also likes her tail being (gently) played with. BELIEFS ① Do you know your character's astrological sign? How well does she fit type? Space monkey means she doesn't have anything like that. ② Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in her life? She's not particularly spiritual! Gi-ne believes all the old saiyan legends, like the Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God, more or less, and she really likes the stories! But they don't influence her daily life much and she doesn't see what they have to do with her (hahaha). ③ Does this character have a personal code of ethics or morals? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? Gi-ne thinks killing is a waste and that hurting people is cruel! This is based entirely off her own experience being made to kill people and stuff. It's not a very saiyan way of thinking though, so she stays quiet about it. Killing people you don't like is normal, so she views herself as an oddball. She views it less as a moral thing and more her own personal like/dislike that she has to overcome depending on the circumstances, but character development spent around better influences could have her come around. She'll force herself to kill in self-defence or the defence of others. ④ How does she regard beliefs that differ from her? Is she tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? Considering she's madly in love with one killing machine and raising another... Like I said, Gi-ne thinks she's the weird one so she tries to be supportive of Bardock and Raditz keeping up the fine saiyan tradition of mass murder. She even raised Raditz to go out and do that very thing, because she'd been taught it was the right thing to do. It makes her uncomfortable, but in Raditz' case it's mostly because she worries about the effect all that death will have on him. At the same time she's really proud of his strength though. When it comes to more normal cultural differences, she's very tolerant and easy going. Sometimes she gets confused or thinks it's funny, but for the most part she just nods and accepts it. ⑤ What prejudices does she hold? Are they irrational, or does she have a good reason for them? Saiyans are the superior species in the universe! This is just logical and fair. She doesn't hold it against the rest of the universe, she's sure they're very nice people. But fuck the Tuffles. DAILY LIFE ① What is the character's financial situation? Is she rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? Working class girl, but her situation is a comfortable enough one. Saiyans don't seem to follow the traditional Earth, capitalism, free market route. ② What is her social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected her? I imagine that among the third class saiyans, there's a difference in status between the combatants and non-combatants! So when she quite being a soldier and started working in the meat dispensary, that was a pretty big downgrade. She doesn't care so much about people's opinions of her and she enjoys the work, so it's fine. But on the other hand, she worries that Raditz is embarrassed by her (the one person whose opinion does matter). ③ Where does she live? House, apartment, trailer? Is her home her castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does she share it with others? I think she has a small house/apartment type deal nearby the meat dispensary. Officially she lives there with Raditz and Bardock, but they're away a lot. It's mostly just a place to sleep, when they do manage to scrape together some free time they don't really spend it indoors. But Gi-ne makes sure it's clean and there's some minor decorations around. The occasional souvenir one of them picked up. ④ Besides the basic necessities, what does she spend her money on? Food? Gonna be honest, I'm not sure saiyans even have a currency they might just do what they're told by the king. But if they do I imagine Gi-ne spends her spare money on bits and bobs that catch her eye, little things from other planets that she finds exotic. Luxury food items to switch up their diet some. ⑤ What does she do for a living? Is she good at it? Does she enjoy it, or would she rather be doing something else? She's a butcher/lunch lady! She enjoys it okay, much more than her previous job as a soldier. She's very good for saiyan purposes. ⑥ What are her interests or hobbies? How does she spend her free time? She used to spend her free time training Raditz or telling him stories. When she'd take a break, she liked to nap... Now that Raditz is off-planet, she spends her time either training by herself or visiting Kakarrot for very one-sided conversations. But she works long hours. ⑦ What are her eating habits? Does she skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods? Hahaha... Gi-ne eats a lot, like all saiyans do! But her love of food is a little more thoughtful. Rather than just eating everything in sight, Gi-ne tries to keep what a balanced meal should be in mind and thinks about what foods are good for various stuff. She never skips meals if she can help it and apart from trying to be healthy, she's not at all picky. She'll take an unhealthy meal over nothing any day of the week. She drinks occasionally, but usually as a social thing.
